Allamanda Plant Care Guide

If the combination is right, your allamanda plant will bloom gorgeous yellow flowers complemented with glossy green foliage!

Why People Love This Plant

The allamanda plant or golden trumpet vine is native to northern South America. In order for this flowering beauty to thrive it needs warmth, water, and sunlight. For these reasons, in cooler, drier climates this plant will typically be found in a greenhouse setting. While we grow our allamanda plants in a bush form, it can be trained into a vine as well!

Your Guide to Care

Care: Can be tricky indoors.

Light: Partial to full sunlight. Allamanda plants like a lot of light! They will tolerate full sun, however they will also grow well with a few hours of morning sun (east facing window). You will not see many blooms without adequate sunlight.

Water: Water deeply when the surface of the soil dries out. Water your allamanda plant liberally during summer and reduce watering over winter. Try your best not to overwater which leaves the plant with wet feet. However, also try not to let your allamanda dry out fully as it likes its water.

Temperature: Allamanda’s like warm and tropical temperatures. Make sure to keep this plant away from any cold drafts to avoid damage.

Humidity: Like lots of tropical plants, this one likes moist air conditions. Make sure to mist it and provide some extra humidity over winter or you may see some leaves fall.

Feeding: Fertilize your plant every 2 to 3 weeks from spring through summer. No fertilizing is needed over winter.

Bonus

Rain water is ideal when watering as allamanda plants are sensitive to calcium loaded water.
