Care: This is a great plant for a new plant parent! Monstera deliciosa care is easy.
Light: Indirect, filtered light is what monstera plants want. Think about the plants native habitat on the rainforest floor; it receives filtered, indirect sunlight. Hence, try to avoid strong direct sunlight or you may scorch your plants leaves. It will tolerate low light conditions, but grows best with indirect light.
Water: Always check your monstera’s moisture level before watering. The top 1 to 2 inches of soil should be dry before watering again. It’s better to err on the side less water as soil that is over saturated can lead to root rot. Monstera’s prefer a well-draining soil. Make sure to water fully when you do water, ensuring water flows out from the drainage holes. Yellowing leaves is a sign of overwatering.
Temperature: 70 F is probably the most ideal, however it will tolerate temperatures from 60 to 80 F. Monstera’s are not a fan of sudden temperature drops or anything under 55 F, so make sure to keep it inside if you experience these not so tropical temperatures.
Humidity: The monstera deliciosa plant is from the rainforest… so… yeah, lots of humidity please! This will of course depend on how dry your climate is. The drier your climate, the more humidity your monstera will need.
Feeding: Add fertilizer once a month during the spring and summer if you want new growth. You can stop fertilizing over fall and winter.
