Dwarf Papyrus Care Guide

The dwarf papyrus plant is incredibly easy to care for and loves boggy, swamp like, hot conditions. Great for anyone who typically overwaters!

Why People Love This Plant

Native to the marshes bordering the Nile river in Egypt, this plant will grow best by mimicking these conditions (wet, humid, and sunny). Many people love to add this plant to water gardens! As it is native to Egypt, the ancient Egyptians actually used this plant to make paper from it! Aside from being used as a writing material, it has also been used as a food and a building material. The dwarf papyrus plant is riddled with history!

Your Guide to Care

Care: Easy to care for.

Light: Papyrus plants like to be given full sun, however they will tolerate partial shade, especially when they are in a very hot climate. If indoors, try placing your plant by a south facing window.

Water: This is a swamp plant, so it prefers to be on the wetter side of things. Plant it around ponds, or in a rain garden, any area that receives constant moisture! If you are in a dry climate, you may need to water daily.

Temperature: Given where this plant is native to, it enjoys a warm climate. We recommend wintering indoors if you experience cooler temperatures.

Humidity: Marshes and bogs are known to have high humidity. Since this plant loves to grow there, it’s safe to say bring on the humidity!

Feeding:  If grown in fertile soil, the dwarf papyrus plant doesn’t require much feeding.

Bonus

Make sure to keep your plants feet wet! These plants love water, so if you’re having an issue check out how much you’re watering first.
