Majesty Palm Plant Care Guide

An indoor houseplant staple, this week the spotlight is on the gorgeous Majesty Palm! This palm sports long fronds and will give any home a tropical flare. The Majesty Palm plant is easy to care for too, just follow our guide!

Why People Love This Plant

Its fronds are ever so majestic, hence it’s name, the Majesty Palm. Native to Madagascar, the Majesty Palm tree can be found by lagoons or riverbanks in the wild due to its love of humidity. It can be rather fragile in the wild (there aren’t many left growing in the wild), however it is easy to care for as a houseplant! It’s a slow grower, but when you’re looking for an indoor palm you probably don’t want one that’s going to shoot up quickly!

Your Guide to Care

Care: Easy

Light: Majesty Palms respond best to about 4 to 8 hours of bright, indirect light. Hence, place your plant by a sunny window! However, this palm can also adapt to lower light levels. It is recommended to avoid direct sunlight, which may burn your plants leaves.

Water: It is best to not let your palm’s soil dry out completely. Water when the top couple inches or half of soil feels dry. The Majesty Palm prefers to be on the moist side.

Temperature: 65 to 85F is preferable to the Majesty Palm plant. Keep your plant away from any cold, drafty areas.

Humidity: This tropical palm love humidity. Make sure to give yours some if you’re in a dry climate.

Feeding: Not super hungry. Fertilize once every two months or so during spring and summer.

Bonus

Yellow and brown fronds got you down? Yellow fronds can be a sign of overwatering, whereas brown tips can be a sign of not enough water! Keep in mind that palms do shed fronds though (which turn brown). In either case, it is best to remove these fronds as quickly as possible to promote new leaf growth.
