Mona Lavender Care Guide
The mona lavender plant is easy to care for, both indoors and out!
Why People Love This Plant
When thinking of flowering plants, typically we think of flowers blooming in spring and summer, that need lots of sun. Mona lavender, however, blooms in fall and winter and requires much less light! If fact, it can be grown indoors with bright, indirect light! This is why so many people love the mona lavender plant, along with its beautiful purple flowers, and green and purple foliage.
Your Guide to Care
Care: Easy to grow indoor and outdoors!
Light: Bright, indirect light with some direct morning sunlight are ideal light conditions. You want to provide bright light for as long as possible throughout the day. The brighter the light received, the richer the flower color. If grown indoors will need a lot of bright, indirect light.
Water: Generally a thirsty plant, mona lavender plants prefer consistent moisture and waterings. A good rule of thumb is to water when the top inch or so of soil feels dry to the touch.
Temperature: 60 to 80 F is ideal for mona lavender. While sensitive to cold, this plant can withstand very mild frosts (25 to 30F). It can be grown as perennial in zones 10 to 11.
Humidity: Mona lavender prefers average humidity (around 50%). If you are in a dry area or experiencing a dry winter, provide your plant with a humidifier, pebble tray, or similar to raise humidity levels.
Feeding: Fertilize once every 8 weeks or so. Mona lavender plants will flower when shorter days arrive, at this time you can hold off on fertilizing and start again when the flowers subside.
Bonus
If you’re not seeing blooms, this could be because of lack of light or overfertilizing. Mona lavender will require more water during its bloom period in fall and winter.
